Fall Attractions

Fall is best known as the season of the harvest. Events such as “Craft Market” and the harvest festival are held to give thanks for a successful harvest. We also celebrate the beautiful fall colors as the leaves change in early November. The woodlands and surrounding mountains are transformed by the fall
foliage, adding to the pleasure of cycling or trekking in the highlands.

Yatsugatake Harvest Festival

Held in late October each year. Hot air balloon rides and alpine horn performances create a lively festival atmosphere, and delicious highland vegetables can be purchased at reasonable prices.

Yatsugatake Museum of Art

The museum displays the works of Hara born sculptor Takashi Shimizu and calligra-pher Kakusen Tsugane, alongside exhibits of Jomon-Period pottery and stoneware that introduce the culture and history of Hara Village.
