An art museum nestled in the rich nature of the highlands. The establishment of village operated museums is unusual in Japan, and this museum’s construction in 1980 was prompted by a donation of works by Japan Art Academy member and Person of Cultural Merit, the Hara born sculptor Takashi Shimizu.
